Anand Teltumbde, while being a scholar and practitioner in his formal disciplines of Technology and Management in various senior and top management positions, maintained and excelled in his parallel career as an activist and public intellectual right since his student days through professional career. He immensely contributed to the civil rights movement in India as one of its founding pillars and contributed theoretical insights through his voluminous writings into most issues. He thus lived the dialectical unity of theory and practice right up until the moment of his arrest. He is currently being held in Taloja jail, near Mumbai, awaiting trial.
