Anand's house in Goa, where he lived with his wife, Rama is raided by Pune police. Anand and Rama are in Mumbai at the time and the police enter their home without producing a warrant or obtaining his permission. Houses of 6 activists from five states were also raided on the same day.

Police files an FIR against Anand under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) which is draconian law that makes it extremely difficult for the accused to obtain bail while the investigation and trial against him proceeds.
